Another Fav Workout- Kettlebell routine -Nike Training Club App

Today is Cross Training Day.  It is a rest from running  and a very important part of preparing for the Bread and Honey race! I am hooked on the Nike Training Club App from Nike .

I have used many apps in the past and I can say Nike put together a quality app. With over a 100 routines, NTC is basically a full body workout combining weights and cardio.  The 30-45 min workouts are for the beginner to advance.

The workouts are designed with specific goals- Getting toned, lean, strong, or focused.  The Focused routines are 15 min targeted to a specific muscle group – Abs, arms and legs etc. I downloaded the newest version and found a couple of new routines.  I tried the 30 min Kettlebell routine.

It was great, I was using a 20 lb bell and it was too hard for me.  I had a 10 and 15 dumbbell handy and it worked just as well. The get ups were tough.

My Fav Workout – Cross Training Ideas

Hi Everyone,  So I am 132 days away from the Bread and Honey Race (15 Km) .  I trained very hard for this race last year and was sidelined by a  hip injury.   To avoid over training , I have decided to ease into a running schedule.  However, I am not starting at zero- I have been running 15-20 miles a week or about 3 times a week.  On the days I don’t run- I cross train.   I like to think I am hardcore. I like my classes tough.

I teach a class once or twice monthly- my choice.   I have been told my classes are challenging.  Think Insanity with my own spin.

I also go the gym to do other classes- There is a class called Body Attack- same idea as my class format.

I look all over the internet to find videos, apps, and other ideas that I can add to my week.

Here are my favorites so far:

Videos:  Insanity of course!  This is an high intense and energy packed workout has intervals of plyometrics .  There are about 10 workouts in total.    It’s pretty darn hard! I like the 38-40 min Plyo -intervals.  It’s just enough.

Apps :  NTC- Nike Training Centre.  YES!  It’s a great workout !!  There are about 50 different sessions broken down by your goal – Lean, Toned, Strong, Focus.    Beginner to Advance fitness levels.  This workout has a combination of weights and high intervals cardio drills to slim down.  If you’re diligent and do this workout once or twice weekly- you will definitely see results.
